Partial Transcript: The main intention of General MacArthur is to lose and sacrifice the least amount of troops. General MacArthur's next landing is Leyte Islands. Paul says being near an airfield is convenient because they are close to the airplanes. The airplanes are used for counter-attacks to bomb places in Manila. Besides the POWs intel, Paul's team gets the radio signal of the Japanese soldiers and hears their conversations. Then Paul flies to Okinawa before going to Tokyo. The airplane is full of cigarettes to trade for souvenirs. The soldiers want Paul to help them with the Japanese interpretation. In Tokyo, Paul learns he is promoted to second lieutenant if he serves during the occupation forces. However, Paul turns down his commission. Paul recalls visiting Kyoto to visit relatives.
